Imbo originates from a Xhosa word translated “roots” and was inspired by my Xhosa genes and the profound history that my tribe possesses. This phenomenon can be interpreted into all the tribes our country embraces and of course the continent at large.

About Imbo

Our organisational culture is entrenched in focusing into every intricate detail that is embedded in a company’s roots and translate that in a manner that resonates with the company’s evolving brand. This ideology is what we refer to as Corporate Image Consultancy, a wholistic approach to brand development, this is our forte.

Imbo is a 100% black, female owned, and managed company founded in 2012.

Ms Akhona Mbadamana has had exposure in corporate South Africa by having worked for Investec as a compliance officer, client management and risk management. This opportunity opened her eyes to the importance of brand positioning and brand development, not only from a personal campus but as a corporate.

In her trajectory, she’s had the opportunity to also work as a Settlements officer for Sinayo Securities, where she was responsible for the settlements of trades at days end and when opportunity availed; she facilitated road shows and managed its branding and marketing.

It was through these experiences that she realised her passion for marketing and branding. She saw a gap in the SMME sector where she decided to start Imbo as a brand development business; not only to empower and educate Small Businesses about branding but also for them to realise their full potential through branding.

Ms Mbadamana’s training is in the Investments and Finance Industry and she has further developed herself by attending trainings in financial modelling and Hedge fund design and management.

Creative Director

Busi is a digital, social media, branding and communications specialist. Busi was moved to action when she realized a gap in SMME digital services market. Her inclination is to offer SMMEs branding and digital services that will elevate companies, which previously did not have access to such services.

Having worked for a Multinational for 7 years, means that her expertise will additionally be able to provide services in the development and overseeing the execution of strategic social media and digital initiatives, including developing and managing campaigns, creating and supervising high-profile channel accounts; for corporate clients.
